Seaside destinations οf Larissa
In the shade of a giant, a mighty buttress against the winds of the north, the beaches of Larissa are an enticing prospect. A short drive away both from Athens and Thessaloniki, these up-and-coming destinations are attracting more and more families and young people looking for a sensational summer.
A string of beach pearls
Sand or fine pebbles? Pristine waters with a Blue Flag certification? Loungers, umbrellas and handy cafes? Water sports? Gorgeous trees and shrubs hugging the shore? Liberal doses of fun? Whatever you’re looking for in a beach, Larissa has it all. On Agiokampos, you’ll have a choice of two camp sites – the kids are gonna love it! Budding Ronaldoes get their kicks on the sands of Sotirista, while on Velikas beach, just past Vrahakia, beach volley is all the rage. Then again… anyone for tennis or basketball in the comfortable evening heat? Or is that the wind picking up? Could it be time for a spot of wind surfing at Stomio. One thing is for certain; boredom is not an option!
Crimson miracles at Kokkino Nero
Descending from the mountain from Karitsa towards the sea, through a landscape of ravines festooned with plane trees, you’ll come upon the village of Kokkino Nero, red water, which has borrowed its name from the colour of therapeutic waters streaming up from the earth. Time to try its healing properties… the pace is more relaxed at its beach, both on its northern pebbly half and on the sands to the south, with rock caves full of soothing thermal pools.
Endless family fun
“I wish this could go on forever!” Thoughts echoed by every child as the summer holiday inevitably draws to a close. Happy little faces bobbing up and down in crystalline waters; games of chase between the trees of Mesaggala beach; secret hideaways in the golden coves of Rakopotamos; daring dives from the rocks of Bouka with shrieks of apprehension and delight; that signature sunscreen aroma of summer; all this to bring contented smiles to the faces of parents and the sweetest memories- a keepsake until the next time.
Big summer moments. Swim beneath Mount Olympus, the tallest lifeguard in Greece!
